Radiesse is an effective, long-lasting, injectable filler. It is FDA approved. It compliments the skin's natural collagen supply, and can be used to reduce moderate to severe wrinkles as well as to add volume and contour to the face. Radiesse® treatments produce an overall younger, fuller, smoother appearance with just one or two treatments.
What is Radiesse® made of?
Radiesse® is a synthetic injectable filler that contains calcuim hydroxylapatite (CaHA)microspheres in a water-based gel. It stimulates the natural production of collagen to smooth lines and wrinkles and soften the appearance. Since Radiesse® is composed of minerals similar to the ones found in our bones, no pre-treatment allergy testing is necessary.
What areas does Radiesse® treat?
Radiesse® can be used on the face to correct smile lines, nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to corners to the mouth), marionette lines (from the corners of the mouth to the chin), and other folds around the nose and mouth. It can also be used to treat depressed facial scars or oral commissures. It can be used on the body to restore ad correct lipoatrophy (loss of fat beneath the skin) in patients with HIV. It can also be used for sexual enhancement and augmentation in both men and women.
What can I expect during treatment?
Radiesse® treatments usually last about 15 minutes and require no downtime. One or two treatments are usually enough for patients to achieve their desired results.
During the procedure, the doctor will clean the treatment area, administer a local anesthetic, and procede with a series of quick injections with fine needles.
Are there any side effects?
Mild irritation, itching, swelling, discoloration, or tenderness at the injection site are potential side effects, and should fade within several days.
How soon will I see the results? How long will they last?
Results are immediately visible after the procedure, and they can last up to a year or more. Radiesse® requires fewer re-treatments than other leading dermal fillers, but touch-up treatments are still recommended to help prolong the results.
